How Does Nesting Options Work?

You can set some of your options to only show if a specific option is selected first. This is useful in a variety of option scenarios. It is considered an advanced use of Session Options.

  • An option that appears only when different option is chosen is called a Child Option.
  • An option that triggers a Child Option is called a Parent Option.

These functions are set on the Option Template of what will be the Child Option.

How to Create a Child Option

To create the connection between two options, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Go to the Beta_Menu.png Mega Menu and expand Templates.
  2. Click on Templates in the Options section.
  3. Create a New option template or click on the option you want to turn into a Child Option.
  4. Click Add / Remove under This option is a child of.
  5. Check the box next to any option you wish to trigger this one.
  6. Click ACCEPT.
  7. Click SAVE.

You have now established this option as a Child Option.

  Note

For this conditional logic to function properly, the following settings must be true:

  • The Parent Option must be in a separate Category from the Child Option.
  • The Parent Option Category must be set to appear before the Child Option Category.
  • The Category settings for Parent and Child options must NOT both be set to Share page with other categories.

Example:

Adding Snack Options to Daily Extended Care

  3. Create a Snack Option category set to appear after the Extended Care category and with different Page Display Type settings from the Extended Care category.
  4. Create individual Monday through Friday snack option templates.
  5. Set the Monday Snack option to be a Child Of the Monday Extended Care option, the Tuesday Snack option to be a Child Of the Tuesday Extended Care option, etc. all the way through the Friday options.
